Aerial Photography Paradise

I’ve been fortunate enough to have been taking aerial photos of Cornwall for the past decade. From the rugged coastline, small fishing villages and wide open landscapes, it’s easy to see why it has long been a favourite destination for visitors and why it’s always such a joy for me to capture aerial photos of Cornwall.

While Cornwall’s beauty is undeniable from the ground, viewing it from the air through aerial photography adds a whole new dimension, revealing hidden patterns, textures, and details that might otherwise go unnoticed. Aerial photography allows us to experience places in a completely fresh and captivating way.

The Coast from the Sky

Cornwall’s coastline is perhaps its most iconic feature and from an aerial perspective, it becomes truly breathtaking. With dramatic cliffs plunging into the Atlantic Ocean, golden beaches stretching for miles, and hidden coves nestled between rock formations. Aerial photography captures these scenes in a way that immerses viewers in Cornwall’s wild beauty, showing the interaction between land and sea with stunning clarity.

The Beauty of Cornwall’s Villages

Beyond the coastline, aerial photography offers a unique glimpse into Cornwall’s villages and historic towns. St Ives, with its winding streets appear as intricate, almost maze-like networks when seen from above or Coverack Harbour with its almost precision-like boat formation within the sheltered harbour.

Surf from the Air

Cornwall is well-known for its surf and aerial photography is a perfect way to capture the waves and the region’s relationship with the ocean. Beaches like Fistral, Polzeath, and Watergate Bay are popular surfing locations. From the air the movement of surfers and the breaking waves makes viewers feel as though they’re part of the action.

Aerial Photography in Cornwall

Cornwall’s diverse landscapes are perfect for aerial photography. The changing topography, from rugged cliffs to serene beaches and rolling countryside, means that every shot has the potential to reveal something new and unexpected. Aerial photography captures not only the scale of Cornwall’s beauty but also the intimate details – the winding coast paths, the secluded beaches, the ancient ruins – that make this region so unique and captivating.

For photographers, aerial photos allow for a deeper relationship of light and shadow, texture, and colour. Whether it’s during the golden hour as the sun sets over the ocean or the dramatic skies of a Cornish storm, aerial photography captures the atmosphere of the moment in a way that’s hard to achieve from the ground.

For those who have visited Cornwall, aerial photographs are a chance to relive locations from a new perspective. For those yet to explore this beautiful region, they are an invitation to see Cornwall in all its glory, as if for the very first time.
