Latest news from Aerial Cornwall and looking back at 2023…
2023 summary
Things are generally quiet during the winter months for drone filming due to the unpredictable weather so it’s a good time to look back at the previous year, the place’s visited and the clients I’ve worked with and also make plans for the year ahead.
The weather on the whole in 2023 was quite average but there were certainly some glorious conditions for photography in between the rain, wind and grey days. You really have to make the most of the limited opportunities when photographing outdoors.
New kit
At the beginning of 2023 I invested in a Sony FX3 to cover ground filming. A very capable camera and an absolute joy to use. In September 2023 I welcomed the DJI Mavic 3 Pro to the fleet, replacing the Mavic 3. The main advantage of this drone is the dedicated zoom lenses and overall improved camera quality.
With some new equipment at hand it was good to revisit some previous locations such as Coverack Harbour and Gunwalloe. Coverack has always been a favourite location of mine. I captured a birds eye view of the harbour back in 2014 and at the time it was my most popular photo. Originally taken using a DJI Phantom 2 with a GoPro HERO4, so it was good to repeat this shot with the DJI Mavic 3 Pro and see how the camera quality and drones have improved over the years. A night and day difference.

Work and clients
I was fortunate to work with some brilliant clients throughout 2023 which took me to all corners of the county and to places I wouldn’t have visited otherwise. Some of the work I was involved in included holiday homes, property sales for estate agents, campsites, architects, new build developments, television documentaries and golf course filming. A lovely variety which I’m very fortunate to have with this line of work.
New website
A big change and update in 2023 was the brand new Aerial Cornwall website, featuring an online shop. This has been a huge step forward and has made ordering for customers much quicker and easier. I am very pleased with the new look and I hope you enjoy exploring the website and browsing through the galleries, videos and pages.
Calendars
This was the 10th edition of the Aerial Cornwall calendar, the first one being 2015. Time really does fly! Thank you to all my new and existing customers. It really is amazing to ship the calendar worldwide. There are Aerial Cornwall calendars hanging up in homes in the USA, Canada, Australia and throughout Europe.
New prints and artwork
With the edition of the online print shop I was also delighted to launch a new line of prints – ‘Mor Collection’. This run of limited edition art posters features a selection of timeless images from around the Cornish coast, inspired by the vintage travel posters by Great Western Railway. These are available to order both framed and unframed and look stunning in your home.

Lastly, thank you to everyone who supported me throughout 2023, worked with me, booked Aerial Cornwall for shoots and purchased prints, art posters and calendars, especially with the runup to Christmas.
There are lots of exciting shoots planned for 2024 so keep an eye on the website and social media pages.
Cheers,
Matt
